EXANIMATE

The day had come when it all fell apart
Finally the resistance had crumbled
Mother nature had now given up
And conceded the humans had won
As she drew and exhaled another breath
She knew that she had done all she could
To provide us all with our own eden
SO we all stuck our knives in her chest

The rain had come and burnt all our crops
Tarnished our rivers and dulled all our hopes
It made the ground poisonous
Forced us to consume the wretched
Knowing the fault was all ours
We'd stained the tapestry and spoiled
All the beauty
We'd lost our right to remain in existence
All for another step in the name of progress
All moving towards the ultimate conquest

The writing was up on the wall
She has had enough of it all
And with one painful long drawn out breath
She would close her eyes for the last time

The last one buckled at the knees as he bled
Expelling his liquids all over his legs
Shaking and shivering and holding his head
Eventually slumped over motionless
His face bore the same signs as all of the rest
Blood from his eyes had pooled on his chest
An entire human race now extinguished
By a virus nobody could beat
